Impulse/stimulation is an attention getting signal (AGS) that cues the dog. This is reinforced through training. The dog learns that when it senses the AGS it must alter its behavior. This is part of classic dog training whether the stimulus is food, praise or an attention getting signal.
Your dog’s working level is the lowest or first level where your dog senses the impulse/stimulation. This is the level you should use when training and working with your dog. You will know the working level by observing your dog as you use the impulse/stimulation button. Look for a flip of the ear, cocking of the head sideways or a quizzical expression. At no point should you dog look distressed or vocalize. Note that each dog’s working level can be unique. There is no universal setting.
Zone of compliance is the distance at which you have command and control of your dog. It is different for a leash than for an electronic training collar. The electronic training collar lets you extend your zone of compliance from feet to hundreds of yards.
Reactive training is punitive training. It is in response to your dog doing something you do not want it to do, like chase a squirrel or run into the road. Your dog associates the impulse/stimulation as a negative and stops what is doing. This allows you to reestablish control and stop the unwanted behavior.
Proactive training is an alert to your dog that an expectation or command will be coming from you. It is using the impulse/stimulation to gain your dog’s attention so you can communicate with it.
The receiver collar should be positioned at the narrowest part of your dog’s neck so that it does not slip and lose contact with your dog’s skin. The narrowest is at the top. The receiver collar should be placed below the jaw and towards the ears with the probe side near the jaw.

It is a good idea to remove your batteries if you do not intend to use the product for an extended period of time. Typical battery life may differ depending on usage.
